HERE ARE SOME GROUND RULES :-
Communication: It is vital to every relationship, more so in a marriage.
Whether it is to thrash out a difference of opinion or to let one’s steam off, the
hot-line of verbal exchange has to be maintained.
Communication is a 2-way affair. It cannot be maintained by a single partner.
Today, the couple does not resort to long and silent periods of anger, simmering within but they thrash out the problem by discussions. One gold¬en rule that invariably works is to sort out all differences before going to bed.
Whether pleasant or unpleasant, never make the error of closing the channels of communication when a Spouse wants to discuss an unpleasant subject, he/she often uses the words “Let’s talk.” This can be visualised as a threat by the other spouse.
Similarly, words like “You are always…” is a wrong beginning. They generalise behavioural patterns which can be quite a lethal approach. If husband has a habit of heaping all the accusa¬tions on his wife. This naturally evoked very strong resentment in her.
