CORIANDER
CORIANDER
THE KING OF THE KITCHEN
Called Chinese parsley, coriander is one of the oldest spices and dates as far back as 5000 BC. It has been cultivated for the last 2,000 years. It is claimed that the Romans used it to make their breads delectable. Originating from the Near East and the Mediterranean regions, coriander is grown in Europe and Morocco on a large scale for its seeds. The plant, with a life cycle of a couple of years, thrives in places with a cool climate and moderate rains and hence some North Indian States cultivate it on a large scale.
Coriander leaves become a scarce and dear product during the summer months, especially in the north and hence it could be grown in small cotainers in the kitchens for its leaves which are needed to flavour dishes.
