KEEPING THE KITCHEN SPARKLING CLEAN
KEEPING THE KITCHEN SPARKLING CLEAN
The utensils in which food is cooked (pressure cooker, pateela, frying-pan etc) need special care and should be washed well after every use. It is important for the homemaker to ensure that the maid cleans these properly, removing the grease completely. If the maid does not do it, she should do it herself, unmindful of the fact that her delicate hands and her manicured nails would be affected.
Consider the kitchen as a temple and cleanliness, its deity. Utensils and crockery washed and dried by the homemaker herself generally shine more and do not have scratches. Time
is also saved and the tension of waiting for the irregular and undependable maid is done away with.
Daily-use crockery and cutlery should be scrubbed in convenient lots with a good cleaning powder and washed properly under running water. After being washed, these should be placed in a tray or metal basket to drain before they are dried with a clean napkin kept exclusively for this purpose and placed on shelves.
Greasy utensils need to be washed with hot water, using a detergent soap. Hot water helps to remove grease easily and also retains the shine of the utensil.
