TWINS
Formula isn’t poison: ‘Mothers instinctively tend to feed the weaker baby first, but actually it is the milk in the hind part of the breast that is richer. So the weaker one (if he’s fed first) ends up deprived of richer feed.
Sharing along the way: twins can share garments, sheets, even nappies (provided they’re well washed); but bottles and soothers must be kept separate. The same goes for medicines, so label bottles; and the moment you administer medicine to one, enter it in your log book to make doubly sure.
For yourself, stock up on wrinkle-free fabrics that can be easily washed when soiled.
Postpone the decor: When they begin to walk, you must toddler-proof the house. Make sure to move all breakables and valuables out of reach of little hands. Even toys must not be too heavy or sharp-edged. Toddlers may playfully hit each other with toys without realising that they may cause hurt. A good idea is to keep a space in the house that’s theirs alone - it should be bare, well-lit, with optimal flooring.
