Full-time domestic servants are neither easily available nor affordable these days. There is also a risk element in employing them as we can see from the frequent cases of theft and murder reported in the papers.
The onus of maintaining the home properly usually falls on the homemaker. It is a full-time job so obviously.Working women cannot do full justice to it. And it is debatable whether a second income is more important than the health and harmony of the family.
Kitchen waste like used tea leaves, vegetable peelings, egg shells etc can be used as fertiliser for domestic plants. Often, the kitchen dustbin looks repulsive due to careless use and unsatisfactory cleaning. It is recommended that old newspapers should be placed at the bottom and sides of the dustbin daily.
All kitchen waste should be disposed of twice a day along with the newspapers and the dustbin washed clean.
Lighting a scented agarbati regularly each morning and evening in the kitchen or placing a couple of fragrant flowers in it, is a good idea.
Smokers and alcoholics should refrain from entering the kitchen, the temple of the home.
