SHOULD YOU GO ABROAD ON A PACKAGE TOUR?
SHOULD YOU GO ABROAD ON A PACKAGE TOUR?
You can decide just how you will go abroad by reading this piece – alone or with others.
Just before the summer holidays, the city newspapers get flooded with all kind of attractive package offers for holidays  abroad. “Come  and  visit Australian     Gold Coast   with   us”, ‘Come with us on ‘European Dhamaka   or    ‘European Tehelka,” “Join us for an 11-day tour to the exotic Far East…”
The names of these tour operators who advertise so heavily are now all familiar to us — some of them are  Cox  and  Kings, Thomas Cook, SOTC, Raj Travels, Club 7, Dewan Holidays, etc.
Many  of  us  get attracted   by  these advertisements, particularly those of us who have had our fill of all the Indian tourist spots such as Shimla, Manali,   Mussoorie and Ootty and are now ready to try something more exotic.
Then comes the issue of choosing the destination, whether it is Far East or Australia or Europe, the USA or even wild Africa!! Most people start their foreign travel with a nearby location such as Thailand, Malaysia or Dubai, and then get progressively bolder!
And then comes 2 important questions — what should be the budget and whether you should go on your own or go along with the numerous international tour agencies.
A careful study on the pros and cons of group travel Vis-a Vis travel on your own will enrich you with sound knowledge and help you decide and choose your best option.
Regular international travelers eventually learn to be on their own, whereas those traveling to any country for the first time would be better off traveling with a tour group. Similarly, a couple without kids or families with grown-up children can make out of their own.
