THE RIGHT INVITE
THE RIGHT INVITE
Â
• The correct way to address a couple is ‘Mr. and Mrs. (man’s initials or name)’, and not the other way around.
• If you know the lady only but are also inviting her spouse, find out his initials or first name -that’s what goes on the invite.
• If partners aren’t formally married or don’t share a surname, send separate invitations to each or one invitation with their names written separately -for instance,
‘Mr. Rakesh Kumar & Ms Sarla Tiwari are invited to…’
• Make sure you spell names correctly- ‘Mira’ should not be spelt ‘Meera’, and so on.
 A dinner or cocktail invitation
 • Use plain white or ivory card paper with elegant black print. A fun theme party invitation
• Choose a coloured background but be careful about gold or silver wording- it may be difficult to read..
Dress right for the invite
 • For a poolside get-together, sarongs or shorts with Hawaiian T-shirts are fun.
• Formal wear, Indian or Western, is only for corporate dos.
• Remember ’smart casual’ isn’t jeans and T- shirt.
• Black-tie is strictly for sit-down dinners and very formal events.
• Traditional is perfect for weddings
