EIGHT DIRECTIONS

The entire universe is in an endless space. It is void and void has no directions. The sun, the stars, the earth, the moon and other planets revolve and rotate in their respective orbits. The nearest and most powerful -star to our earth is the Sun. It is a burning fireball from which we get heat and light. We are able to know the existence of things and directions because of light.
We stand facing the rising sun and we call that direction east. Behind us is the direction west and on the left is north and right is south. The portion in between two directions is called the intermediate direction or corner. Intermediate, corner and angle are synonyms.
1. In between north and east is north east (Eeshanya). 2. In between East and south is south east (Agneya) 3. In between south and west south west (Nairuthi) 4. In between west and north is North West (Vayavya).
At a point where two directions meet there is a corner. That angle or corner will have the effects of both the directions. It will give two types of results. So corners have more specialties than the cardinal directions. The eight directions help us in these ways. East is paternal. If east is covered completely the house will be without male support. There will be no male patronage. South east bestows health. South brings prosperity, wealth, cattle and happiness. On south west depend conduct, behavior and matality. West gives fame and advancement.  
North West governs the relations with others and is responsible for cordiality and hostility which vary. North is maternal- If it is not vacant, changes occur in life. Owing to death of housekeeper the house the house will be deserted and desolate. North east is responsible for male progeny. If it is defective there will be no male issues and even if there is any, chances of survival are less. They will become mentally retarded, liven if the house holder has abundant wealth it will be without Inkers. Purveying the eight directions of the house the conditions of the people living there can be explained, as the saying goes “Face is the index of the mind.
Each angle extends towards two directions. So each of the
Intermediate directions are sub-divided into two parts. As per vastu the site may be considered to be a square or rectangle. They will have four sides. They are called east, west, north, and south.
Every side has two directions. To determine the exact position of each at the time of construction the four sides of site are divided into nine parts.
The sun is the sole base of the universe. All the nine planets including the earth rotate around the sun. According to the science of vastu a formula has been devised to divide the sides of a plot into nine parts in consonance with the planets. This is done along with the sun. This is a better method than dividing into 3 or 4 parts
