 Almost all places of interest have tickets and traveling alone, you would be wasting so much time trying to get tickets for the entrances to these places.
Last but not least, in a group travel you are dealing with one single entity that is the tour operating company. You can talk to them about any inconvenience you may have had even after you come back to India — not chase a hotel 4,000 miles away. This single point accountability is also a significant bonus.
A single coach tour, as described above, is more in the European context and may not be the solution for large countries such as Australia and the USA where coast to coast travel is more than double or even triple the distance between Kashmir and Kanyakumari! There the tour operators use a mixture of | coach and inland air travel. Or you can do west coast this year and come back and do east coast sometime later! However, other advantages of group travel still remain.
Is group travel then all honey and roses? Aren’t there any pitfalls at all?
Yes, there are issues such as when you come across some place where you would like to stay back for some more time or even an extra day — this is just not possible while traveling on a package
If your group is traveling in a coach you can leave your heavy bag behind without worrying about its safety.
