Wedding Shopping

Wedding in the family is synonymous with shopping. Once the date for the big day has been fixed the whole family begins to make preparations for it. Purchasing all the requirements is the first priority.
Many parents open a diary or a file and start tabulating the things they want to purchase and the chores they have to do. It is helpful to make a timetable of sorts so that one can finish each duty within a fixed time frame.

Shopping for the wedding is mostly for clothes and jewellery. Apart from this, the family has to get all the paraphernalia required for the ceremony itself and for the needs of the hordes of relatives and friends who will descend on the house.

The family priest should be summoned well in advance to compile a list of the wedding requirements. Every small item like a silver bowl for the sandalwood paste and the bricks to make the sacred havan should be searched out, bought or borrowed.

It is better to keep a separate room with a lockable door for storing all these items. Make a neat list of the things brought in a notebook.

Choose the wedding venue and book it well in advance. It is better to give the work of decorating the venue to a contractor. It saves a lot of your time, energy and even money.

If you wish to do it on your own, make an exhaustive list of the needed items like tents, lights flowers, durries, chairs and other such items. Where you intend to get these from should be decided and arranged so that the day before the wedding everything can swing into action.

Shop around for the shenai vadak or the nadaswram players who will create the perfect ambience with their music. The photographer and the video camera man should be booked well in advance after fixing their rates.

Deciding on the wedding card and the legend it will carry is another important business. Certain areas of a city specialise in card-printing. In Delhi, for instance, areas like Sadar Bazaar and Kotla Mubarkpur and Chawri Bazaar are famous for such amenities. The range of cards is very wide here and the prices are competitive.
