A True Friendship

A good friend is one who is large-hearted and is never petty and suspicious. She doesn’t have unrealistic expectations from her friends and is at the same time trusting and loyal.

It is very important to believe in our friend. A friend who is not trustworthy does not deserve to be your friend. On your part, you must learn to keep secrets and confidences.

By spilling details of your friend’s life, especially those which she has asked you to guard carefully as a secret is the ultimate breach of faith. Many friendships have been soured when the other person hasn’t honoured the other’s secret.

In a close relationship like the one which intimate friends share, there is no place for double standards. You should feel free to be yourself and to express yourself without any inhibitions.

Finally, remember that you don’t need an army of friends. Even 2 to 3 really good friends are enough to add that special sparkle to your life. Meanwhile, keep acquiring the goodwill of all the friends you make, whether they are at the bus stop, in the chartered bus, at the workplace, in the colony, at the club or in the family. Even your own sister or mother can be your best friend.

It is upto you to cultivate and nurture a friendship and to value it as a precious asset in your life. In today’s fast-moving world, where nothing except change is constant, true friendships can be a great help, providing joy and pleasure unlimited.
