Eating Out

Eating Out

Eating out has become an integral aspect of modern living. After all, what drives the people to go out and have food of their choice?

Now people don’t need an excuse for visiting restaurants.

As Indian society becomes ‘modern” which somehow basically Teens “western,” it has influenced not only the way we dress or look but the way we eat, what we eat, where we eat and in fact how we eat. In the last decade the concept of fast food caught on like a raging fire with vans and trolleys painted in rainbow colors coming up at almost every nook and corner of the town. But eating out means coughing up money and traditionally Indians had never been in the habit of spending money on things which could be avoided. No, of course, it had nothing to do with the tendency to save, it was simply because, accept it, we did not have that much of cash.

Liberalization or the so called economic reforms filled up the pockets of the middle-class brats who suddenly found markets going gaga with more and more restaurants coming up. And they brought dishes not only from the various States of India but they armed themselves with inter-continental cuisine missiles we mean, recipes.

Now with pockets bulging out with MNC cash and going on long or short drives in your newly-acquired 4-wheelers, you go chasing the delicious smells coming from various restaurant kitchens.

FLOURISHING FOOD BUSINESS

And why not? Food business has the potential which might make even showbiz people go green with envy. No wonder, nowadays even the film stars like Mithun Chakravarty, Jackie Shroff, ShahRukh Khan have made forays into the food business by opening chains of hotels and restaurants.

But why eating out? Have people stopped liking home-made food or the culinary skills of the young generation are no longer good? “No, this is not so,” “it is simply because one feels like having some fun and adventure which eating out provides. I think it is a way to celebrate life with your friends, relatives, colleagues, family members etc. In fact, through their choices of recipes, you come to know them better!”

Perhaps, one does not have to be an expert in sociology to understand the one major change in one’s day-to-day life which has certainly contributed to the culture of eating out.
