Woman who plans to be home makers should go through a specially designed course. For those Indian women, who do not have any career ambitions other than being a home maker, and as such practice home management, the pattern of college education in humanities, commerce, science etc. is rather an anachronism.

For it is quite a familiar sight to see home makers who are master’s degree holder in philosophy , English, Hindi , history , zoology etc. doing no work other than that of a home maker.

Such working women [and home makers are working women],therefore, genuinely feel in retrospect that they would perhaps have been much better off they have instead received such education as it would have equipped them to be better mangers of their house hold.

Against this the question that inexorably raises its head is what knowledge of home management a woman should possess to enable her to be a versatile home maker. If we ponder over the matter, it would dawn on us that:
1. They need to be good at language [both speaking and writing], and be fully aware of the basics of management.
2. They should be deft in sewing, cooking, washing, pressing and have a basic knowledge of drawing and painting.
3. They should have knowledge of book keeping and arithmetic to maintain the accounts and family budget.
4. They should be fully conversant with the principles of health, hygiene, nutrition, first-aid of day to day use.
5. Finally, home makers of the 21 century should be able effectively to practice self defense also.
