MICROWAVE COOKING

Most companies offer a one-year guarantee. Take care to note the additional features offered by the model tike automatic timer start, food warmer, grilling and roasting facility, child lock etc, before selecting one to suit your requirements.
The microwave works on the princinple of electro-magnetic waves. When the microwave is switched on, a magnetic field is created. Microwaves are emitted which set the molecules of water in the food into motion. The friction generates heat, cooking the food from within. .
In conventional methods of cooking, the flame heats the vessel which in turn transfers the heat to the foodContained in it. In a microwave, the heat is generated within the food, so the food cooks faster.

Place your microwave on a sturdy surface in the kitchen or within easy access from the kitchen, preferably out of reach of small children. The microwave has small vents on the sides or back to let out hot air. Keep at least 2″ clearance at the back and sides for proper ventilation.
Never cover the microwave as then, the vents will be covered. Keep away from your television or radio, as it may interfere with their proper functioning.
Various containers can be used in a microwave. Ceramic mugs and dishes, good quality plastic which is marked microwaveable, China vessels without metallic rims paper towels; cloth napkins etc can all be used. For heavy duty cooking, especially with food having a high sugar or fat con¬tent, it is best to use heat-resistant ceramic ovenware.
